Why I Do This.

Before I picked up a camera professionally, I spent more than two decades in design and advertising — learning how to make things look intentional, how to tell a story visually, and how to make someone stop and pay attention. Sixteen years ago I made photography my full-time focus, and I've never looked back.

The work that led me to Sportraits Northwest was personal. As a father of two athletes, I watched my kids compete and kept thinking the same thing — these moments deserve better than what most sports photography offers. The intensity, the dedication, the pride — none of it was showing up in the images.

So I built something that would. Every session I shoot draws on everything I learned in advertising: how light tells a story, how composition creates emotion, how a single image can make someone feel something. That background is what makes Sportraits Northwest images different.
